THE ANOINTING – PART   1

TEXT : LUKE   4: 16-22

What is the anointing?

The anointing is the Holy Spirit empowering us to do.

It is the overflowing life of Jesus which imparts supernatural strength enabling an individual to perform a special task or to function in an office he is called or appointed to do.

It is God using earthly vessel to do what humans cannot do. The anointing is God’s presence by the Holy Spirit empowering us for service on the earth.

Acts: 10-38

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with him.

The anointing is not oil – it is the oil of gladness or the joy of the Lord. The Joy of the Lord is our strength. When you are anointed you receive strength or ability to do.

Note:  It is not right to appoint someone to do if they are not anointed.

The anointing with oil symbolizes divine influence of power of God. The Holy Spirit is not oil, he is not wind,   and he is not fire. He is a person, the third person of the God head. Father, Son and Spirit    co-equal in things.

Oil symbolizes Consecration

Wind symbolizes God’s presence.

Fire symbolizes Cleansing.

JESUS WAS ANNOINTED TO:

  1. Preach the gospel
  2. Heal the broken hearted.
  3. Preach deliverance to the captive
  4. Recover sight to the blind.
  5. Set liberty to them that are bruised.
  6. Preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Note: To be successful in any form of  ministry you must be anointed by the Holy Spirit.

Acts  1:8

Be anointed before you do. Be anointed before you enter into Ministry.

Luke 4:1

a)      Jesus faced the devil with the full measure of the Holy Spirit .He was led by the Holy Spirit to be tempted by the devil.

b)     Facing temptation, troubles, situations without the anointing is sure defeat.

Note: If you not anointed you will be disappointed.

Acts    19:1-16
